Online Routes and Route Planning

• All Around - Many of my favorite routes have been entered at bikely.com and are linked below. Bikely also has a decent search feature.
• Rec/Training - My Sunday Morning Group Ride has a Yahoo page named auroracycling that maintains a list of maps and routes for rec and training.
• Route Planner - There is a route planner that I've reviewed on this blog. I've found it gives better routes if you set the "Bike Factors" Facility Type to 2 or higher. Remember to choose "Bike Only" unless you'd like to include a bus or train.

Loops passing near Virginia-Highland

• Arabia Mountain - east through Decatur to Lithonia, south through Arabia Mountain Park, returns along River Road and Bouldercrest.
• Capital City Club and Buckhead - This loop passes through Decatur and visits Silver Lake near the CC Club.
• Hollywood-Buckhead - West out of downtown, through Bolton, then Buckhead.
• Quad County/Swan Lake - South along Bouldercrest almost to Stockbridge. Route is courtesy of the L5Flyers.

Commuting Routes (VaHi - AT&T/BellSouth Center)

• Wednesday Bike Train - All aboard! Candler Park to Ga Tech arriving in time for 9AM classes. Every Wednesday, rain or shine.
• 3rd Friday Commute - Monthly from the Decatur Square to Midtown by way of Thumbs Up Diner for Breakfast.
• Direct house to office - well, not quite direct; Piedmont Park is too much to resist.
• Longer route- taking in Atlantic Station & Ga Tech
• Yet longer route - taking in Lullwater and PATH trail
• Maybe the Longest ? - longer by one more notch, passing Fernbank and Emory along Clifton.

Outside the City Routes

• Silk Sheets - starting point accessed from I-20 & Fulton Industrial; heads along river to outside of Palmetto, GA. This version starts near Boat Rock, but many riders start from the church where the north and south (main) loops meet.
• Beautiful Backroads - 45-mile option out of Anheuser-Busch brewery in Cartersville

Miscellaneous

• VaHi to Silver Comet - Usually when I ride the Silver Comet, I take this 13 mile route to get to the Mavell Road trailhead. The only busy section is getting past I-285 on Atlanta Road and then a short stretch on the East-West Connector.
