Atlanta Cycling Resources

Routes/Rides - also see Routes Page
  • Bikely - Sharing Bike Routes over the internet. Find routes, enter and save routes. Great for finding roads that others have found useful. Also supports GPX to turn maps into GPS files.
  • Southeastern Cycling has a great Rides Page helping you find an appropriate ride on the day you can go. They also have one of the best map pages that I've found.
  • The Southern Bicycle League (SBL) has a Ride Calendar for a wide variety of rides.
  • Midtown/Downtown Bicycle Suitability Map - Good map for good routes in Midtown/Downtown. Also has good commuting tips.
  • Commuting Bike Trains and Bike Pools - Why wait until May to join a group of bike commuters?

Intown Groups

  • Aurora Cycling - Yahoo Group riding out of Aurora Coffee in Virginia-Highland. Sponsors a 8AM Sunday morning ride but also a good place to find a partner for rides on other days.
  • Atlanta Intown Touring - This group picks a topic and then explores it by bike. Recent ride was a Cemetery ride for Halloween. My first ride with the group wasn't a tour, but ABC's Office Move.
  • Faster Mustache - Progressive group of cyclists: Forum and Local News.

Road Cycling Skills

  • Bike Sense - One of my favorite skills pages is from a website in British Columbia, Canada. Not sure what that says about the US <wink>.
  • Effective Cycling Classes - Atlanta's own ABC teaches John Forester's nationally recognized Effective Cycling class. This is a hands on class that will boost your Road Cycling Confidence. The class is normally $60, but is discounted to $35 by ABC. Some groups are eligible for deeper discounts.
  • BRAG's Safety Pledge - A quick 16-point summary of road etiquette particularly on group rides. (Scroll down on this page to get to the Safety Pledge.
  • Also see the Wikipedia article on Vehicular Cycling.
